Secondary Class Guides

Sage is the technical continuation of , trading some of Wizard's raw AoE pressure for utility, anti-caster tools, party support, and flexible elemental control. On Age of Ymir, the class stands out through tools like , , , and .
Sages scale primarily through INT for MATK and SP, DEX for cast time reduction, and enough VIT to keep casting under pressure. They can level as a standard caster, a book-based auto-spell build, or a pure utility support that feeds elemental endows and anti-ground control while moving cleanly into .
Details

Builds
This is the most reliable all-purpose Sage route. It keeps the Mage leveling core of bolt spells plus AoE support from , then adds utility from and endows so the class still contributes heavily in parties.
The main priority is keeping enough VIT to survive while recasting and enough DEX to smooth out spell uptime. This route is the safest transition into Professor later.
This build uses together with and to melee with books while auto-casting bolts.
With a Soul Linker this route becomes much smoother, but even without one it can work if you support it with FLEE gear, crit support, and enough AGI to keep attack speed high. Avoid shields on this route because they cut ASPD too heavily.
This route is built for players who want to support parties with elemental weapon enchants, anti-ground protection, and anti-caster disruption. It leans on , , , and .
It does not level as aggressively on its own as the caster route, but it becomes extremely valuable in coordinated play and remains one of the cleanest support paths in the Mage branch.

Equipment
| Category | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Eden Group gear is the cleanest starting point. Sage benefits most from the free staff and dictionary path because both transition well into either caster or book-focused progression. | |
| This is the easiest strong MATK rod to secure before transcendent progression. It is one-handed, so it also leaves room for a defensive shield. | |
| A standard book weapon for battle Sage routes. Pair it with crit or damage cards if you want a practical Hindsight setup. | |
| A stronger ASPD-oriented choice for battle Sage players who want a faster book setup than the standard Encyclopedia route. | |
| Strictly MATK-focused book option. The Principles of Magic set remains one of the cleanest higher-investment directions for magical book play. | |
| Useful one-handed alternative if you want to build around shielded caster safety instead of a book route. | |
| Guard, , or are practical defensive choices for caster Sage. is also useful in spell-focused setups. | |
| Useful all-around caster headgear. Budget middle and lower options like , , and remain serviceable. | |
| Utility accessories matter a lot for Sage. , , and are all practical depending on whether you want utility swapping, set bonuses, or stat support. | |
| , , , , , , and are the classic utility and FLEE package depending on whether you cast, reposition, or build battle Sage. |
Leveling
| Range | Where | Why It Works |
|---|---|---|
| 50-70 | Reliable early second-class leveling for spellcasters that still want dense targets, accessible maps, and clean bolt or AoE rotations. | |
| 70-85 | Especially strong for parties and Hindsight setups that lean on elemental coverage and frequent spell procs. | |
| 85-99 | Good later-game party map if your Sage is contributing support control, elemental enchants, and steady spell pressure rather than only pure burst. | |
| Quest Support | Eden Group quests stay useful for filling rough gaps, especially if your build is more supportive and slower at solo killing. |
Job Change
| Route | What You Get | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Access to the standard Sage job change through Juno, including the written test, battle test, thesis sequence, and item collection route. | If you want the full original progression flow, this is the complete official Sage path. It takes place in . | |
| Direct Sage job change support through the AoY Job Master route. | For second classes, the Job Master is the convenience option. It does not grant the first-job incentive bundle, but it does handle the job change directly and grants quest/platinum skills automatically. See for the NPC system page. |
