Sage

Sages are utility-focused elemental casters built around disruption, endows, flexible support, and technical spell control.

Secondary Class GuidesSage
Sage

Sage is the technical continuation of MageMage, trading some of Wizard's raw AoE pressure for utility, anti-caster tools, party support, and flexible elemental control. On Age of Ymir, the class stands out through tools like Free CastFree Cast, DispellDispell, Land ProtectorLand Protector, and Advanced BookAdvanced Book.

Sages scale primarily through INT for MATK and SP, DEX for cast time reduction, and enough VIT to keep casting under pressure. They can level as a standard caster, a book-based auto-spell build, or a pure utility support that feeds elemental endows and anti-ground control while moving cleanly into ProfessorProfessor.

Details

Sages are utility casters with strong support value, anti-magic control, and flexible progression into either standard spell play or book-based battle casting.

Builds

Basic Sage Leveling Build

Heaven's Drive

This is the most reliable all-purpose Sage route. It keeps the Mage leveling core of bolt spells plus AoE support from Heaven's DriveHeaven's Drive, then adds utility from Free CastFree Cast and endows so the class still contributes heavily in parties.

The main priority is keeping enough VIT to survive while recasting and enough DEX to smooth out spell uptime. This route is the safest transition into Professor later.

Hindsight Battle Sage

Hindsight

This build uses HindsightHindsight together with Free CastFree Cast and Advanced BookAdvanced Book to melee with books while auto-casting bolts.

With a Soul Linker this route becomes much smoother, but even without one it can work if you support it with FLEE gear, crit support, and enough AGI to keep attack speed high. Avoid shields on this route because they cut ASPD too heavily.

Endow / Utility Support Sage

Seismic Weapon

This route is built for players who want to support parties with elemental weapon enchants, anti-ground protection, and anti-caster disruption. It leans on VolcanoVolcano, DelugeDeluge, Violent GaleViolent Gale, and Land ProtectorLand Protector.

It does not level as aggressively on its own as the caster route, but it becomes extremely valuable in coordinated play and remains one of the cleanest support paths in the Mage branch.

Equipment

CategoryRecommendation
Eden Group gear is the cleanest starting point. Sage benefits most from the free staff and dictionary path because both transition well into either caster or book-focused progression.
This is the easiest strong MATK rod to secure before transcendent progression. It is one-handed, so it also leaves room for a defensive shield.
A standard book weapon for battle Sage routes. Pair it with crit or damage cards if you want a practical Hindsight setup.
A stronger ASPD-oriented choice for battle Sage players who want a faster book setup than the standard Encyclopedia route.
Strictly MATK-focused book option. The Principles of Magic set remains one of the cleanest higher-investment directions for magical book play.
Useful one-handed alternative if you want to build around shielded caster safety instead of a book route.
Guard, Stone Buckler [1]Stone Buckler [1], or Valkyrja's Shield [1]Valkyrja's Shield [1] are practical defensive choices for caster Sage. Memory BookMemory Book is also useful in spell-focused setups.
Useful all-around caster headgear. Budget middle and lower options like Takius BlindfoldTakius Blindfold, Robo EyeRobo Eye, and Evolved PipeEvolved Pipe remain serviceable.
Utility accessories matter a lot for Sage. Nile Rose [1]Nile Rose [1], Pocket WatchPocket Watch, and Librarian GloveLibrarian Glove are all practical depending on whether you want utility swapping, set bonuses, or stat support.
VitataVitata Card, CreamyCreamy Card, PhenPhen Card, SmokieSmokie Card, Bloody ButterflyBloody Butterfly Card, WhisperWhisper Card, and AlicelAlicel Card are the classic utility and FLEE package depending on whether you cast, reposition, or build battle Sage.
