How the Refining System WorksThe refining system no longer uses Refine Certificates. Refinement is now driven by globally dropped ores, ore deconstruction, and zeny costs tuned for long‑term progression. Refining ore(s) are usable items that open a dedicated refining UI, give access to deconstruction options, and let you convert high‑tier ores into lower‑tier materials. Ores drop globally with rates that scale by monster level, so high‑level content offers better ores without making low‑tier materials obsolete.
Refining Overview
- Requirements: Equipment to upgrade, required zeny, and the correct refining ore
- Optional Protection: Blacksmith Blessing can be used from +7 to +14 to preserve refine level on failure
- How to Refine: Drag equipment into the center slot; required ore appears in the blue hexagon, optional Blessing in the red hexagon
- Success & Costs: Success rate is shown at the top of the UI; total zeny cost appears next to the zeny icon on the Refine button

Global Ore Drop Sources
Ores are dropped globally across Midgard, with drop chances that scale based on monster level. Higher-level monsters drop higher-tier ores, but early-game content still contributes useful materials.

Upgrade Tip: Low-tier ores stay valuable at every stage of progression thanks to global drops and deconstruction. Do not ignore Rough Ores— they quietly fuel many of your upgrades.

Mythical Ore

A special Mythical Ore exists as the ultimate refinement material:
- Can only be used on equipment that is already at least +10.
- Guarantees refinement success when used.
- Requires a very high zeny cost per attempt.
- Obtained only through special acquisition methods, not regular monster drops.

Design Note: Mythical Ore is built as a late-game luxury sink, not a shortcut that replaces normal refinement. Regular ores, the deconstruction system, and careful planning remain the backbone of your upgrade journey.
