Farming Basics

✧ Understanding Zeny Farming

The most common way to farm Zeny is by selling loot from monsters to NPCs. Generally, farming is done after having leveled up a bit and upgraded from starter gear. However, there are some maps that allow you to achieve decent money-making early in your journey.

✧ Pro Tip: Always keep an eye on your inventory space while farming. Use @autoloot or @arealoot commands to automatically collect items, and regularly visit NPCs to sell your loot.

Early Game Farming (Levels 20-70)

✧ Starting Your Zeny Journey

Early game farming focuses on accessible locations with decent loot drops. Don't worry about maximizing efficiency yet - focus on learning the basics and building your initial Zeny reserves.

Payon Forest (pay_fild02): Levels 20+. All loot. Strawberry (opens in a new tab) can be sold to players for decent Zeny.
Strategy: Farm all drops and sell to NPCs. Strawberries can fetch better prices from players, so consider using @whobuy to find buyers.

Mid Game Farming (Levels 70-90)

✧ Expanding Your Options

As you progress, more lucrative farming locations become available. These areas offer better loot and higher Zeny yields per hour.

Gonryun Dungeon 1F (gon_dun01): Levels 70-99. Honey (opens in a new tab) & Royal Jelly (opens in a new tab).
Strategy: Focus on collecting Honey and Royal Jelly - these items are valuable and stack well.

Magma Dungeon 2F (mag_dun02): Levels 80-99. All loot.
Strategy: Equip water-element weapons or use water-element skills to exploit monster weaknesses. Be cautious of mob density.

High-Level Farming (Levels 90-99)

✧ Maximum Efficiency Farming

High-level farming locations offer the best Zeny yields. These areas require proper preparation and gear, but reward you with valuable drops and high Zeny per hour.

Rachel Sanctuary 1F - 3F (ra_san01, 02, 03): Level 90+. Bloody Rune (opens in a new tab), Witch Starsand (opens in a new tab) & Prickly Fruit (opens in a new tab).
Strategy: Multiple floors available - choose based on your level and gear. These items are valuable for crafting and quests.

Juperos 1F (juperos_01): Levels 90+. All loot.
Strategy: High-value drops make this a popular farming spot. Be prepared for competition.

Geffenia (gefenia01, 02, 03, 04): Level 90+. Diamond Ring (opens in a new tab), Gold Ring (opens in a new tab), Royal Jelly (opens in a new tab) & Violin (opens in a new tab).

Strategy: Cannot teleport on these floors - methodically clear the area. Equip gear with Alice cards to reduce damage from Boss-type monsters. Use Knight of the Abyss cards to enhance damage output.

Glast Heim Churchyard: Level 90+. Drops include White Herbs, Fabric, and Butterfly Wings.
Strategy: Use Holy-element weapons or skills to deal increased damage to undead monsters.

Ice Dungeon Level 1: Level 90+. Drops include Ice Cubic, Crystal Blue, and various equipment pieces.
Strategy: Equip fire-element weapons or use fire-element skills to exploit monster weaknesses. Be prepared for slippery terrain affecting movement.

On Overcharge & Discount

Merchant Class Benefits

Using the Merchant (opens in a new tab) job class for Overcharge and Discount will help you maximize the Zeny you obtain from selling loot to NPCs and also reduce costs of consumables. The same Merchant will also have access to the Vending skill, allowing you to sell any valuables you may find to other players in the Market (Prontera).

OverchargeIncreases selling price to NPCsGet more Zeny when selling loot
DiscountReduces buying price from NPCsSave Zeny on consumables and items
VendingOpen a shop to sell items to playersSell valuable items for better prices

✧ Autotrade Tip: Using the player command ✧ @autotrade (opens in a new tab) (@at) while using Vending will log you out of the character, but keep your Vending Shop online. Keep in mind you won't be able to use another character on the same account while autotrading.

Selling Strategies

✧ Maximizing Your Profits

Some seemingly "trash" loot may still be useful, whether it's for a quest, for crafting and brewing, or used as skill catalysts. You can make a quick buck stocking up these materials and selling them to other players.

✧ Pro Tip: Use the command ✧ @whobuy (opens in a new tab) or (@wb) in-game to see if anyone is buying an item. This helps you identify which items are in demand and can fetch better prices from players than NPCs.

Finding Alternative Farming Methods

✧ Researching What to Farm

The most important thing to ask yourself when researching what to buy and sell in any Massively Multiplayer Online game is "Why are people buying or selling something?" And the answer is usually more detailed than "Because someone needs it."

Where to Find Turn-In Quest Items

SourceItems to CheckPurpose
Eden Group Leveling QuestsCollecting missions itemsQuest turn-ins for EXP rewards
Mora Daily QuestsMora quest itemsRewards Mora Coins for Mora Equipment
Catalyst ItemsSkill catalyst itemsItems required for certain skills

Alternative Farming: Strawberries

✧ Strawberry Farming Options

If you don't want to look items up and just want a quick recommendation, Strawberries are a good alternative. I've seen Strawberries being sold for 2000+ by other players. The reason why Strawberries and other SP recovery items are in demand is because NPC vendors don't sell SP recovery items.

MonsterLevelLocationDrop RateCoordinates
Spores18Payon Field 086%pay_fild08 30/74
Yoyo38Prontera Field 0310%prt_fild03 30/249

⚠️ Farming Considerations

  • Yoyo Farming: While Yoyos are passive, they will assist other Yoyo once a fight starts. Combined with the fact that they are looters, you likely won't be looting anything yourself until almost everything around you is dead because the Poporing in the area are also looters.
  • Weight Management: If you decide to go over 50% carry capacity to grab all the loot while farming strawberries (due to how far away Prontera is), I recommend eating the bananas you pick up in order to restore your HP. That way you can continue to ignore the penalty towards HP regeneration.
  • Payon Travel: If you decide to farm Spores, keep in mind that while it costs 120 zeny to get to Payon, it will cost 2000 zeny to get back to Prontera and there isn't a Payon to Izlude teleport service. Don't use the navigation window to try and find your way back - it will recommend teleporting to outside Glast Heim dungeon where there are level 100 Gargoyles.

Higher Level Farming

✧ Farming While Leveling

Higher level mobs like Stalactic Golems are going to drop things like Brigan worth 373 zeny and Mud Lumps worth 438 zeny for a total of roughly 811 zeny per kill worth of vendor items fairly consistently and occasionally drop things like Elunium 1.64% of the time (I have seen stalls offer to buy Elunium for 10,000 zeny each).

✧ Stalactic Golem Farming: While it is potentially less zeny per kill depending on what you kill at higher levels, you're gaining exp while farming and occasionally getting a high value item when killing those higher level mobs. The only downside is that there are level 98 Nereids in Beach Dungeon 2 where the level 68 Stalactic Golems can be found in abundance. If you find that you can't fight the Nereids but you still want to farm there, you could avoid them with fly wings and see where those place you in the dungeon.

How to Avoid Spending Zeny

✧ Minimizing Expenses

Instead of talking about how to get zeny, let's talk about how to not spend your hard earned zeny. More specifically, how to avoid spending all your zeny on HP recovery items. You will find better healing options at higher levels in either the "useful recovery items" section of your class' wiki page or on the Healing Items wiki page.

Healing Items for Lower Levels

ItemCostHealingWeightBest For
Fresh Fish250 Zeny100-150 HP2Best weight to healing ratio. Best for longer sessions or weaker characters
Meat50 Zeny70-100 HP15Cheapest but heaviest option

✧ Where to Buy Healing Items

  • Fresh Fish: Buy from a cooking merchant for 250 zeny. Cooking merchants can be found using the in-game navigation window.
  • Meat: Meat merchants are found in Izlude, Lighthalzen, Morroc and Prontera. You can RODex Meat to yourself or use an alt in one of those cities to buy meat, store it, then retrieve it from storage on the character you want to continue playing.

Equipment and Enchantments

✧ Free Gear from Eden Group

I can't stress how important the Eden Group Equipments Quests line of quests are to get gear appropriate for your level and to reduce the damage you're taking. And the best part is that you don't have to hand over zeny to NPCs to get gear to level up to 99.

NPCServiceRequirementsNotes
Blacksmith ThornEnchant Eden Group Armor, Manteau II, or Boots IVLevels 60-79: 20 Iron Ore + 10 Iron
Levels 80+: 20 Used Iron Plates
2 random enchantments, repeatable once per day, 0% failure rate
Weapons Expert BKEnchant Eden Group Weapon IIIComplete level 70+, 80+, and 90+ Eden Group Equipments Quests3 permanent enchantments total

✧ Shield Tip: Keep in mind if you're using a single handed weapon, you should look into whether your class can equip a shield like a Guard or Buckler in your offhand. For example, when you switch from Novice to a Thief, the game doesn't provide you with a free shield to indicate that you can use certain shields. Using a shield will raise your defense by 20-40 which will make your healing items last considerably longer.

Additional Money-Saving Tips

✧ Smart Resource Management

  • Level Up Timing: Keep track of how close you are to leveling up your base level to save zeny spent on HP and SP restoring items. Run around with at most half HP and SP when you get close to leveling up because those bars will refill to full upon leveling up.
  • Storage Costs: Minimize expenses by reducing how often you put things into storage to avoid the 500 zeny fee. Be aware of storage costs if you find yourself accessing storage excessively.

General Farming Tips

✧ Efficiency Tips

  • Equipment Preparation: Ensure your gear is optimized for the specific monsters in each area. Elemental weapons and appropriate armor can significantly enhance farming efficiency.
  • Inventory Management: Regularly clear your inventory to maximize farming sessions without interruptions. Use storage NPCs or create a Merchant character for selling.
  • Party Play: Consider forming parties to tackle more challenging areas, increasing both safety and efficiency.
  • Market Awareness: Stay informed about the in-game economy to know which items are in demand, allowing you to maximize profits from your farming efforts.
  • Use Commands: Utilize @autoloot or @arealoot to automatically collect items, saving time and improving efficiency.
  • Elemental Advantage: Use weapons and skills that exploit monster weaknesses (fire vs ice, water vs fire, holy vs undead) for faster kills.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Some farming locations require quest completion (e.g., Geffenia requires Sign Quest)
  • Popular areas like Geffenia and Thanatos Tower may have competition from other players
  • Always be prepared with consumables and proper gear before entering high-level farming areas
  • Consider the time investment vs. Zeny yield when choosing farming locations
