Knight

Knights are durable second-class melee frontliners built around Peco mobility, strong AoE pressure, and a clean split between spear mobbing or two-handed sword damage.

Knight

Knight is the classic second-class continuation of SwordsmanSwordsman, turning an already durable melee base into a true frontline bruiser. The class gains signature tools like Bowling BashBowling Bash, PiercePierce, Brandish SpearBrandish Spear, and Peco Peco RidePeco Peco Ride. AoY's Game Changes also matter a lot here because Bowling BashBowling Bash keeps its chain reaction without the old demi gutter bug, and the splash now ranges from 2 to 20 cells.

Knights are valued for their ability to shift between fast single-target damage and practical mobbing depending on weapon choice. On Age of Ymir, that same flexibility makes Knight one of the cleanest midgame melee routes if you want strong survivability, scalable AoE, and a smooth transition into Lord KnightLord Knight.

Details

Knights are durable melee second classes with excellent mob control, strong large-target damage, and one of the most reliable frontline progressions in the Swordman branch.

Builds

SVD Spear / AoE

Brandish Spear

This is the most classic Knight route in the guide. It centers on high STR, strong VIT, enough DEX to stay reliable, and spear-exclusive skills like Brandish SpearBrandish Spear, PiercePierce, and Spear MasterySpear Mastery.

It is the cleanest all-purpose Knight leveling route if you want to mob comfortably, perform well on large targets, and make full use of mounted play with Peco Peco RidePeco Peco Ride and Cavalier MasteryCavalier Mastery.

AGI Two-Hand Sword

Two-Hand Quicken

This route is the more beginner-friendly single-target Knight path in the guide. It leans on high attack speed from Two-Hand QuickenTwo-Hand Quicken, strong melee uptime, and steady finishing damage from Bowling BashBowling Bash.

If you enjoy field grinding, cheaper sustained leveling, and simpler weapon progression, the two-handed sword route stays one of the smoothest Knight playstyles. It also pairs well with cards or gear that reward fast auto-attacks while still keeping AoE available when needed.

Hybrid

Bowling Bash

Hybrid Knights try to keep the best parts of both the AGI and VIT routes. This build is framed as a flexible option for players who want respectable survivability, mob control, and enough attack speed to keep Bowling BashBowling Bash and PiercePierce feeling smooth.

It is a practical middle ground if you want one Knight that can handle solo field play, party tanking, and general progression without committing too heavily to either extreme.

Cavalier MasteryMounted5Removes most of the mounted attack speed penalty and makes Peco play fully practical in combat.

Equipment

For early beginners on AoY, the Eden Group Equipment QuestsEden Group Equipment Quests are still one of the best early systems to lean on. The iRO Knight guide also specifically calls out Eden gear as a strong starting point, especially if you want an easy bridge into spear or two-handed sword leveling.

EquipmentDescription
The iRO reference highlights the Eden spear route as one of the cleanest gearing options for Knights and their future classes, especially for PiercePierce and Brandish SpearBrandish Spear play.
If you prefer the AGI route, a strong Two-Handed Swordtwo-handed sword stays the easiest way to capitalize on Two-Hand QuickenTwo-Hand Quicken.
When mobbing or tanking groups, the iRO Knight guide strongly recommends cheap healing items. Fresh FishFresh Fish remains one of the most practical low-cost sustain items for Knights.
MinorousMinorous Card is one of the classic size-based damage upgrades for Knights, especially if you spend a lot of time using PiercePierce into large targets.
The iRO guide calls out SP sustain cards as useful for Knights that cast often. Earth DeleterEarth Deleter Card is a notable example if your build is skill-hungry.
For more durable general-use gear, the classic Knight card pool includes RaydricRaydric Card, KhalitzburgKhalitzburg Card, and PasanaPasana Card depending on the content you are facing.

Leveling

Level RangeLocationNotes
55-70Knights transition cleanly from Swordman leveling by continuing Eden GroupEden Group quests and farming Orc WarriorOrc Warrior, Orc LadyOrc Lady, and Orc BabyOrc Baby while their new AoE tools come online.
70-85This is a strong stretch for spear Knights because MinorousMinorous are large targets that reward PiercePierce well. It is also a solid place to keep weaving in Eden quest progression.
85-99Once your gear and sustain are stable, Knights handle mob-heavy maps well. Fire-focused gear like PasanaPasana Card can help if you want a sturdier Magma route for repeated Bowling BashBowling Bash or Brandish SpearBrandish Spear clears.

Job Change

You can become a Knight once your Swordsman reaches Job Level 40 or 50. On Age of Ymir, you have two practical routes:

RouteWhat You GetNotes
Official RouteOfficial Knight QuestKnight class access through the full guild process, including the classic test chain and later access to quest skills like Charge AttackCharge Attack. The official route sends you to PronteraProntera Chivalry for item collection, a written test, battle test, word association quiz, self-control test, and personality quiz.
EzekielAoY Job MasterImmediate Knight advancement and automatic quest/platinum skills through Job MasterJob Master. The current Job ChangerJob Changer script documents explicit incentive item bundles for first-job changes, but it does not list a separate Knight-specific reward package. What it does guarantee here is convenience and automatic quest/platinum skill unlocks.

Recommendation

  • Take the official route if you want the full Knight guild process.
  • Use the AoY Job Master if you want to skip the quest chain and move directly into the class for progression.
