Professor – Age of Ymir: Age of Ymir

Older class references still title this class Scholar, but on Age of Ymir the live job label is Professor. It is the transcendent continuation of Sage, keeping the branch's anti-caster control, ground denial, elemental support, and book-based hybrid identity while adding a much stronger SP-management package.

Older Scholar references use several names that should be translated when you play on AoY: Soul Exhale is Soul Change, Soul Siphon is Soul Burn, Fiber Lock is Spider Web, Blinding Mist is Wall of Fog, and Foresight is Memorize.

AoY also preserves the Sage-line flavor that already made this branch more flexible than older shorthand suggests. In particular, inherited Advanced Book remains an AoY-exclusive passive, so battle-book Professor is more realistic here than a plain reading of older summaries might imply.

Support / SP Battery Professor

This is the cleanest translation of the iRO page's main point: Professor becomes a favored party class because of its SP manipulation. Soul Change gives allies immediate SP recovery, while Indulge lets you refill yourself by trading HP for SP.

This route keeps all the inherited Sage utility that already mattered in coordinated play, especially Dispell, Land Protector, and Spider Web, so it scales best in party, MVP support, and guild environments.

Bolt / Double Casting Professor

The iRO overview says Scholar offensive power jumps through Double Bolt, Foresight, and Fiber Lock. On AoY, that translates directly into Double Casting, Memorize, and Spider Web. This is the strongest straight damage Professor route if you want to stay spell-focused.

The practical idea is to lock targets with Spider Web, cut cast time with Memorize, then burst with bolts while Mind Breaker and Double Casting amplify kill pressure.

Hindsight Battle Professor

This route is also an inference from the current iRO page, but it is a well-supported one. The page explicitly recommends Thorny Buckler plus Bison Horn for AGI and Hindsight setups, and AoY's inherited Advanced Book makes book Professor stronger here than old iRO shorthand usually implies.

You still play around Auto Spell, but Professor adds better utility layering through Soul Change, Spider Web, and Memorize, giving the build more technical depth than plain battle Sage.

Focus	How To Play It
SP Battery Loop	The current iRO page emphasizes that the class becomes valuable because it can feed SP to allies. On AoY, that is the Soul Change plus Indulge cycle: convert HP into SP, then pass SP to the ally who needs it most.
Memorize Windows	Memorize halves cast time for the next five skills, which is exactly why the iRO page frames Foresight as one of Professor's main offensive upgrades. Use it before a real burst or utility window, not on random bolts.
Spider Web Combos	Spider Web is the live AoY name for Fiber Lock. Its tooltip explicitly says Fire attacks deal 2.5 times more damage to webbed targets and cancel the status, so plan your follow-up spell around that instead of just treating it as a root.
Mind Breaker Discipline	Mind Breaker lowers the target's MDEF but also raises its MATK. Use it for coordinated magic burst or on targets that are not threatening you with their own spells.
Soul Burn Limits	Soul Burn is the live AoY name for Soul Siphon, and the tooltip makes its real niche clear: it is only enabled in WoE and PvP maps, with a 15-second delay between uses. Treat it as a control weapon for those modes, not as a general PvM staple.

The current iRO Scholar page focuses on the eight transcendent additions and assumes you already know the Sage core. That split still works, but the name mapping matters a lot on AoY. The rows below stay close to the current iRO page while using the live Professor labels players will actually see on this server.

The current iRO Scholar page keeps equipment guidance short and organized around the same three planning layers we already use elsewhere: reuse Eden Group Equipments Quests when possible, lean on the broader iRO Equipment article for general-purpose PvM staples, and look ahead to the later Sorcerer-style direction instead of overspending on temporary trans gear.

AoY does not currently have a direct local Sorcerer route or a dedicated Sorcerer Equipment article, so the practical translation is simple: keep the iRO gearing priorities, but preserve your investment toward long-term Mage-line gear and Shadow Rune progression instead of treating Professor as a dead end.

On official iRO, Scholar sits behind the rebirth-era Book of Ymir and Valhalla route in Juno once your transcendent first-class Mage reaches Job Level 50. On Age of Ymir, that route is replaced by the server's direct transcendent promotion flow once your Sage reaches Base Level 80 and Job Level 50.
